We caught up with Gary and asked him to share his thoughts on Octane Fitness, his favorite product and more.
First off, what store are you based out of?
I’m the Store Manager for 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment in Oshkosh, WI.
Why do you like selling Octane Fitness products?
90% of what I sold in 2013, exactly 90%, was Octane Fitness products. Top to bottom, there isn’t a company that exhibits teamwork and professionalism better than this group, and that translates to sales. I can’t stress enough how important it is to roll into a sales pitch knowing that you have 100% confidence in the quality of the equipment you are about to sell.
Do you have any tips for selling Octane? Or perhaps the xRide specifically?
There are people that walk into my store searching for “that” piece of equipment to get them into shape. In the back of their mind they’re thinking that working out means pain, long sessions, and no fun. My job is to flip those ways of thinking! Who doesn’t have a sore knee, hip or lower back? We all can attest to one of these at some point in our lives. I get people to think not just for today, but for five, 10, or 15 years down the road.
The reason I’m successful with selling it is because it is easy to use, easy to teach, and easy to show progress. I know everyone can use the seated elliptical. I do! I think that’s the most important thing — to actually use the product you are trying to sell. It enhances your confidence in the product immensely when you can share your own usage of it. It helps too that, if you ask me, the XR6 is the best overall strength and cardio piece that we have on our floor.
What’s the best part of being Octane ELITE?
The Elite Club is such an honor to be a part of! Being regarded as one of the best at what you do is an honor in itself. Receiving gifts, luggage, and free trips to Mexico are things that truly humble me, and make me feel like I am making a difference.
As part of the ELITE Club I had the pleasure of meeting the staff at Octane Fitness last summer and want to say “thank you” to the entire Octane staff for making me feel like I’m a part of the team. Special thanks to Ryan Erdman, Ryan Simat, Dennis Lee, Nikki Theisen and the others on the Octane front line for making my job a blessing to come to.
Thanks again to Gary for taking time to speak with us. Stay Fueled and keep selling those xRides!
