Exercise Equipment

Screen Shot 2013-12-04 at 3.57.52 PMWhen it comes to fitness equipment for your home, you definitely get what you pay for. Inexpensive exercise equipment tends to be cheaply made, with motions that aren’t particularly smooth or comfortable, features that may break easily, overall poor performance and limited quality and durability. Let’s face it, while price may be important, if you don’t like the feel of the machine, you won’t use it, and so essentially you’ve wasted your money.

If you are trying to get fit, stay fit and improve your health, then you should view your fitness equipment purchase as an investment in your quality of life. It should be a long-term investment – one that will last for many years to keep you going. Ultimately, if a piece of exercise equipment helps you stay away from the doctor’s office, out of the hospital and off medication, then it is certainly worth every penny of its price.

It is better to save your money and purchase a quality machine than to simply buy the lowest priced one you can. In the long run, you’ll benefit from better performance and a greater product life. You can cost-compare online as well as testing machines at retail stores to assess how they feel and work and their size.

Generally, high-quality exercise equipment starts at about $1000, but there are some exceptions. Stationary bikes typically are lower priced; elliptical machines and alternative trainers are in the middle; and treadmills tend to be more expensive due to their motors and multiple moving parts. But again, don’t buy a machine solely on price; choose what you like to use so that you are inclined to exercise on it regularly and get your money’s worth.

You can save money by looking for sales, asking about specials (free delivery?) or purchasing older models, and financing can help you pay over time.

With all the research demonstrating the many benefits of exercise, using a quality piece of fitness equipment at home is one of the best investments you can make in your health!
