Anti Stress Techniques

antistressStressbustingIn today’s world, most of us would say that we have too much stress, and this is backed up in the United States in particular by the rising rates of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, anxiety and more. Obviously, stress is inevitable, but we can learn ways to better manage it so that it doesn’t get the best of us.  Here are a few anti stress techniques that work for me.

One of the greatest ways to diffuse stress is to exercise regularly. Sure, you’ve heard that before, and you may be thinking that it’s causing you even more stress to try to make time to exercise. But even short exercise sessions help your body process adrenaline and cortisol – hormones that contribute to that overwhelmed, anxious feeling. And by regularly stressing your body through exercise, you actually strengthen it so that you’re better able to cope with the pressures – physical and mental – that hit us daily.

Plus, exercise can give you a break – a time either to process thoughts and issues or to totally zone out and temporarily escape. It also typically leaves you feeling satisfied that you did something good to take care of yourself. And those who exercise regularly tend to sleep better, and if you’re better rested, you’re more equipped to handle stressors.

Finally, exercise does provide energy – which makes you stronger and able to manage all you must juggle. Just do it!
