Treadmill testing at Runner’s World headquarters is underway, with a wide range of machines being put through the paces for possible review in the November 2014 issue of the magazine.
One of the machines we’re looking at, the Zero Runner by Octane Fitness, isn’t actually a treadmill at all—think of it like a mashup of an elliptical, bicycle, and treadmill. It provides a close approximation of running without the impacts you get from landing on a solid surface. There is a bit of a learning curve to it, however, so a group of editors met with Tim Porth, the company’s head of product development and marketing, to get our legs under us.
