  • The console is displaying a low battery error; what should I do?
    • Check to make sure the battery connection is plugged in.
    • Check the connector ends to make sure they're not damaged.
    • Check the battery voltage:

Pro3500/Pro3700/Pro4500/xR6000 should read 5.8 volts DC or higher
Pro4700 batteries should each read 12 volts DC or higher

  • Why won't the console light up while the machine is in use?
    • Disconnect the battery then, pedal the machine. If the console lights up, a new battery is needed.
    • Check the battery voltage:

Pro3500/Pro3700/Pro4500/xR6000 should read 5.8 volts DC or higher
Pro4700 batteries should each read 12 volts DC or higher

  • The console on the Pro450/Pro4500 is displaying an Error code (2, 3, 20, 21, 22, 30, 31 or 32)? What does this mean, and what should I do?
    • These error codes indicate a communication error between one of the stride motors and the lower control board. Follow these steps to identify the issue:

      1. Unplug the unit and swap the two stride motor plug cables located on the lower control board inside the machine.
      2. Plug the unit back in and check the error code again.
      • If the error code is the same as it was before you swapped the cables, the issue is in the lower control board.
      • If the error code switched from an Error 2, 21, 22 or 23 to an Error 3, 30, 31 or 32, the issue is in the left stride motor.
      • If the error code switched from an Error 3, 31, 32 or 33, to an Error 2, 20, 21 or 22 the issue is in the right stride motor.

Contact Octane Fitness or your local dealer to replace the faulty part.

  • The roller wheels are noisy or causing a vibration; what should I do?
    • This is likely caused by a build-up of foreign material on the chrome rails and/or wheels.

      • Clean the chrome rails and wheels.
      • Wipe down the chrome rails and each wheel with a dry cloth. If needed, use a mild soapy solution to remove excessive build up, then wipe with a dry cloth.
      • *DO NOT use WD-40 or silicone spray. Use of such products will invalidate your product warranty.
  • The resistance on my machine is stuck on a high resistance level, what should I do?
    • Check the following:

      • Do the level numbers change on the console when you press the level button?
      • When you adjust the levels can you hear the brake motor moving?

If either of the above are working, a magnet or internal brake cable may be stuck or broken. Contact Octane Fitness or your local dealer for assistance.

  • Where do I find the serial number on the machine?
  • Each Octane Fitness elliptical has two serial numbers: one on the base and one on the console.

    On standing ellipticals (Pro310/Pro350/Pro3500/Pro370/Pro3700/Pro450/Pro4500/Pro4700):

    • The base serial number is located below the right chrome rail next to where the power supply plugs in to the machine.
    • The console serial number is located on the bottom edge of the upper console (just above the keypad).

    On xR6000 seated elliptical:

    • The base serial number is located on the right side in the seat track (visible with the seat in its lowest position).
    • The console serial number is located on the back side of the console (visible with the plastic console cover removed).
  • The moving handlebars are loose, what should I do?
  • The screws under the handlebar cap may be loose. Remove the handlebar covers and tighten the hex head screws on handlebars.

  • Why is there no heart rate reading displaying on the console?
    • Check the following to diagnose this issue:

If you are wearing a chest strap:

      • Make sure it is snug against your bare skin at the bottom of your pectoral muscles with the Octane Fitness/Polar logo facing away from your body and right side up.
      • Moisten the back of the strap with water for better contact.

If you are using the digital contact grips:

    • Make sure that your hands are firmly grasping the grips and that you maintain a constant grip. If you let go, you will lose your heart rate reading.
    • Contact heart rate readings will override your chest strap reading.

Also, check the heart rate cable connection(s) on the console back (and at the bottom of the seat back on the xR6000) to make sure the connectors are properly seated.

  • I seem to go farther in a shorter period of time on the Octane Fitness elliptical. How is the distance calculated on the Octane Fitness elliptical?
    • The distance is calculated by using a formula that incorporates RPM (speed) and stride length.
    • During jogging or running, there is a moment when both feet are in the air and the person is traveling distance. This “glide factor” translates into further distance than what your leg’s stride would be. The “glide factor” is incorporated into the calculation as well. This is an industry standard with elliptical cross trainers; however, each manufacturer may incorporate the “glide factor” differently.
    • A point of reference for Octane machines is that averaging between 50-60 RPMs will equate to roughly an 8-minute mile.
  • Should the heel rise off the pedals while riding the Octane Fitness standing elliptical?
    • Yes, this is normal. Like walking, lifting your heels off the pedals is a natural motion. Two things determine how much your foot comes off the pedal:

      • Body position (the more you lean forward the more your foot comes off the pedal)
      • Pedal articulation (how much the pedal pivots and whether the pedal articulation follows your foot’s movement; heel rises faster than the toe when going forward).
  • Why is the standing elliptical squeaking?
  • Something may be loose on your machine. Adjust the following one at a time, testing the machine after each one to see if the squeaking goes away. Make the parts snug, but do not over tighten the plastic components.

    • Tighten the screws under both pedals.
    • Tighten the front and back of the rails.
    • Tighten the shrouds.
    • Check the moving handlebar covers to make sure the plastic is not rubbing with the main shroud.
  • The resistance on my standing elliptical feels uneven or like it is slipping; what should I do?
    • The drive belt tension in your unit may be too loose.

      • Follow the instructions in your assembly instructions to remove the top cover.
      • Tighten down the belt tensioner bolt on the left hand side of the brake mount.
      • Turn the belt one full rotation.
      • Place the cover back on top of the machine and try the machine - does it feel any better?
      • Continue making these adjustments until the machine slipping disappears.
  • My machine is unsteady (wobbles) when I use it, what should I do?
    • The levelers on the machine are not properly set for your floor.

      • Adjust the position of the machine on your floor.
      • Refer to your assembly instructions for adjusting the levelers of your machine.
  • Where is the battery located on my xR6000?
  • The battery is located in the front of the machine, mounted to the bottom frame underneath the shroud covers.

  • Where is the heart rate receiver located on my xR6000?
  • The heart rate receiver is located behind the plastic cover on the back of the seat.

  • The console of the Pro450/Pro4500 is displaying an Error code (6, 7, 8 or 9). What does this mean, and what should I do?
  • This is a communication error related to the limit switches on the stride motors.

    • Check the limit switches on the stride motors to make sure they are not damaged.
    • Make sure the small pigtail wire harness is connected between the limit switch assembly and the stride motor.

Contact Octane Fitness or your local dealer for assistance.

  • The console on my Pro450/4500 displays Error 11; what does this mean and what should I do?
  • This code indicates a communication error between the console and lower control board.

    • Unplug and re-plug the connections on the back of the console and on the lower control board (located under the top main cover).
    • If the error is not cleared, contact Octane Fitness for additional instructions.
