Octane Adds Innovative New Workouts to Home Ellipticals
July 17, 2008
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. – Octane Fitness, a leading brand of multiple award-winning, premium elliptical cross trainers, has added several new innovative programs to deliver the ultimate workouts on the best-selling premium Q37 Series and Q47 Series ellipticals.
“As the only company dedicated exclusively to low-impact cardio equipment, we’re passionate about providing superior workouts and helping exercisers get results,” said Dennis Lee, president of Octane Fitness. “These new programs are a terrific example of how Octane continually adds value and elevates the standard for ellipticals.”
The Q37e and Q37ce and the Q47e and Q47ce feature four new Cross Circuit workouts, three progressive HeartLogic Intelligence routines and four new goal-based programs.
Cross Circuit Regimens
Unlike any elliptical today, the Octane Q37 Series and Q47 Series boast the unrivaled Cross Circuit workouts, which combine cardio training on the elliptical with periodic intervals of powerful strength-training movements off the machine. Exercisers can choose from four programs: Lower Body Blast, Upper Body Blast, Total Body Blast and Core Focus.
Each program offers a variety of exercises, such as squats, lunges and ab crunches. No additional equipment is required, as all exercises can be performed with body weight alone. As exercisers progress, they can add resistance in the form of dumbbells, barbells or elastic bands.
Individuals select a Cross Circuit routine and choose their exercises according to their preferences. They perform cardio intervals on the elliptical and then are prompted to dismount the machine and complete their strength-training exercise. Exercisers may select the duration of their intervals or use the machine’s default of two minutes of cardio and one minute of strength. Auditory and visual prompts indicate when to transition from cardio to strength.
The Cross Circuit routines combine cardio and strength training for valuable efficiency and excellent overall conditioning, and also effectively burn fat and calories and tone muscles.
Unique to Octane, the new HeartLogic Intelligence programs (Fat Burn, Cardio and HR Custom) gradually oscillate resistance levels throughout the workouts to keep exercisers working within a range of target heart rates. Based on a sine wave or bell curve, the heart rate varies slightly throughout the top and bottom of the range for predetermined intervals.
With this new programming, the body is constantly challenged, which eliminates the typically adaptive response whereby one becomes efficient by consistently training at a specific heart rate, and therefore, eventually plateaus. In addition, slight changes in resistance levels are better tolerated than sudden jumps to produce a great increase in heart rate.
HeartLogic Intelligence is designed to deliver greater results to exercisers over time, and to be more transferable to activities of daily living where one’s heart rate fluctuates.
The Goal programs let exercisers design their workouts based on the end goal of either a specific number of calories burned or distance covered. The default settings are 350 calories, 750 calories, 10K (6.2 miles) or one-half marathon (13.1) miles, but users may customize their end goal. Plus, exercisers can opt for flat or hilly terrain in either the calorie or distance workouts, according to their preferences.
Once the program and options are selected, users simply start pedaling and the elliptical automatically begins counting backward from the designated goal.
The latest models will be available in specialty fitness stores nationwide in early October. The MSRPs are $2,999 for the Q37e, $3,199 for the Q37ce, $4,199 for the Q47e, and $4,399 for the Q47ce.
